Truck racing is actually a variety of motor racing wherein custom versions of heavy-duty tractor units compete with one another within the confines of the racing circuits. Basically, the sport has been around for about twenty years within the areas of Europe where it was embraced wholly and has enjoyed a great deal of success. It was in the 90s when the sporting spectacle reached a momentary downfall. For the last few years its profile and following has gradually increased as evidenced by thirty teams that are regularly involved in its races.

The regulations involved in the sport of truck racing is diligently safeguarded and monitored by the FIA or the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. The organization’s watchful eyes are responsible for ensuring that the original layout, form, and design of each truck is maintained while adhering to the safety rules and norms of the racing competitions. The maximum race speed designated is up to 160 km per hour and the minimum allowable weight is 5,500 kg. The two limitations were set for safety purposes.

Races are commonly kicked off with a rolling start wherein laps normally last for about eight to twelve laps. The competitions have been given a non-contact image. Although minor collisions can really take place due to the fact that the competing vehicles are large in size and the closeness between each driver can really pose a threat. Nevertheless the race competitions have been well regarded as not having too much number of injuries and accidents.

It is a reiterated fact that trucks that join these types of sporting competitions must adhere with the regulation that the major components of the vehicular entrants should be the same as that of their road-travelling counterparts. Also, drivers are obliged to hold a race license duly certified and issued by the Motor Sports Association or the national motorsport agency from the country represented by the racers. The models of the competing trucks are usually patterned on the most common set-ups and designs that have been employed for the past twenty years. Moreover, the trucks are allowed to join into two separate classes to give a fighting chance to trucks having less sophisticated engine, braking, and suspension set-ups.

The tractor unit which is the type of truck used in these races is a sturdy vehicle that can be characterized as having a sophisticated system of diesel engine equipped with several axles. Owners from the US and Australia take extra effort in customizing these vehicles. Large exhausts, personalized paint job, and glaring lightings are the ones commonly placed on tractor units. This deed is very beneficial in getting a lot of attention especially for people who engage in such activities for business purposes.

Apart from the festivities and enjoyment you can have while watching truck races, it’s a sure fire way for you to pin an eye on various forms of accessories that may suit your taste and personality.

Cover Up By Truck Accessories

Trucks are examples of vehicles that are commonly used in heavy duty purposes that mostly involve transport of goods and materials. It is also commonly called on for long trips and rides that are characterized by off-road adventures. This is why supplementary accessories are very vital in helping such vehicle cope with whatever the environment has to offer. Apart from sheltering the people it carries and protecting the goods from the wear and tear of the travel it has to have some sort of mechanism that will also ensure its maintenance en route to better performance and a longer life.

One form of accessory that is widely used by truck owners is known as tonneau or simply a bed cover specifically utilized for a pickup truck. It can either be soft or hard. Covers that are hard have hinging and folding variations. The tonneau was originally devised in order to cater automobiles that have open rear passenger compartments.

The term tonneau is French in nature which denotes a container, cover, or a cask. Majority of the tonneau types were fixed in place but were an optional element of the purchase of the vehicle. Some could be removed as those found on the Crest Mobile. The initial types of tonneaus had doors that were oriented to the rear for this was the rule but as time progressed single or dual-sided doors came into the fray. Peerless came up with the idea of side-door tonneaus and others followed the method which then resulted to the creation of the modern sedans and saloons with Cadillac being recognized as the first ever production car having closed-body four-door features.

Nowadays, tonneau covers normally acts by securing pickup beds of Utes and Trucks. These covers naturally come in different styles in order to suit the taste and preference of the owners. The crudest form of tonneau is made of vinyl or cloth which employs a rib-like system in order to support the fabric and keep it stable on the vehicle. A snap based mechanism can also be a choice for truck owners but since the installation of the snaps on the truck normally demands your typical drilling and the usage of permanent adhesive this system has not enjoyed a lot of following from truck enthusiasts.

Another common kind of tonneau cover is termed as roll-up wherein a unit is mounted at the front portion of the truck bed some inches just behind the cab. The unit can be described as a tiny rectangle-like box placed on each side of the bed. This box contains an easily retractable plastic cover or fabric which can be rolled out to the end of the bed and secured tightly. This brings about convenience since the owner is spared of the time consuming and difficult stages of assembly and disassembly.

Hard plastic and fiber glass tonneau covers are gaining popularity since they have the general approval of the market when it comes to appearance. They can be painted with the color of choice of the owner, they are constructed solidly, and more importantly they offer the opportunity of security because of the locking mechanism they possess. Gas struts are needed to open and close these types since they are quite heavy. Some fiber glass tonneaus are available in multiple compartments that can open from front to back, back to front, or side to side.

Truck accessories are very important in giving the vehicle a good look. Moreover, these supplementary parts allow the vehicle to be maintained well which can lead to a longer and better performance.

Custom Truck Accessories

So when you are getting a wheel upgrade, then you would also be needing a brake upgrade. For example, if you decided to go for wheels that have 20-inch diameter or maybe even larger, then there would be more space inside and this could be filled-in with bigger brakes. Bottomline is that if you are making your truck faster, then you would also have to install equipment that would help in stop in shorter distance.

You can even alter or upgrade the suspension of your truck, make it higher or lower depending, still, on your preference. You could also change tires depending on what height you would like to achieve, just be sure to choose tires that will both look good in your car.

When customizing your truck, then you would like to make yourself comfortable inside. After all, other vehicle may find your truck aesthetically nice, but you do not want to sacrifice comfort.

When buying custom truck accessories, always look for a good recommendation. There are a lot of store selling custom truck accessories, but are they actually credible? You could ask a friend or family if they could recommend you an accessory shop. Aside from recommendations, you could also look in newspaper adverts, if there are anything that offers a good deal for some good quality.

There are truck magazines and journals that would give you an insight about the accessories that you want to purchase. It is best to call them first to confirm about the advertisements. If you have found a store in newspapers, internet or any other magazine, then check for the references. You do not want to end up buying truck accessories from stores that do not even offer good customer service and quality items.

Hyundai launches Genesis Prada sedan in South Korea

Hyundai Genesis Prada
As recently as a decade ago, mentioning brands like Hyundai and Prada in the same sentence would have seemed laughable. But today's Hyundai is a very different company with a very different image. And no car could sum up such a transformation more than the Genesis.

Two years ago, the Korean automaker announced a partnership with the Italian fashion house with a concept car, but has now launched the production Genesis Prada in its home market. The special edition luxury sedan is distinguished by special paint – either Brown Moro, Blue Baltico or Black Nero – with a shark-fin antenna on the roof, offset by dark chrome trim and special 19-inch alloys. Saffiano parchment leather swaths the interior along with piano lacquer black trim and a rear-seat entertainment system. And of course you can count on the requisite badges to identify this Genesis as different from all others.

Hyundai's celebrated 5.0-liter V8 with 424 horsepower is on pushing duty, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Distribution will be constricted initially to South Korea, before availability will commence in limited numbers of China and Middle Eastern markets.

'Lightweight' seems to be the buzzword for the latest A6 wagon. The body is comprised of bits of aluminum (20 percent of it in fact), and the A6 benefits from composite construction that integrates high-strength steel where needed to keep passengers safe. The lightweight approach to construction has helped the 2012 A6 Avant drop 66 pounds versus the previous model, and depending on the powertrain installed, the new car is as much as 154 pounds lighter than the one it replaces. The base A6 2.0 TDI Avant, for example, weighs just 3,616 pounds.

The A6 Avant is available with a choice of six engines and four transmissions. The base unit is a 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel four-cylinder that produces 177 horsepower, and is rated to consume approximately 47 miles per gallon when paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. A larger diesel is offered in the form of a twin-turbo 3.0-liter TDI mill, available in 204-, 245- and 313-horsepower configurations. That last one will push the A6 Avant from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds.

Two petrol engines are offered, measring 2.8 and 3.0 liters, and both units employ variable valve technology. The 2.8-liter FSI engine produces 204 horsepower while the 3.0-liter TFSI pumps out 300 horsepower thanks to the attached supercharger. Besides the aforementioned six-speed manual, the A6 Avant can be fitted with a CVT or the seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox. However, the 3.0 TDI is equipped with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

It seems there's no word yet on whether this Audi wagon is making the jump across the pond to pose in U.S. dealerships. For now, it's slated to go on sale in Europe later this summer with a starting price of €40,850 (approximately $58,288 USD).

Moreover, it is very noticeable that the amount of variation in the equipment utilized for Dekotora was pretty much dependent on the taste of the owners and the groups involved with the usage of the truck. The Dekotora trucks that had to be driven on highways in order to ship and transport goods had to pass inspection since the height, weight, and length underwent modifications.

Decals or paint job brought out the character of the Dekotora truck. Cabs were not only painted with solid patterns but also with exquisite and brilliant textures based on pearl, metals, lame, and mica. The frame of the chassis is sprayed with red colors at times and designed with 19th century gatling gun bases commonly found in Europe. The usual concepts for the trailer design were based on the combination of individual ideas and default patterns such as dragons and fairy tale cats and penguins.

Other concepts were also established based on plants and humans. Sakura and peony trees were very common and historical figures and celebrities were sometimes employed.
